Universal Principles, Self-Evident Truth, and Natural Affections
God
God is a triune being (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) governing
as One, represented in the likeness or “constitution” of each human being He created.
Creator God
In the beginning God…
Genesis 1:1, John 1:1
All created things testify to fundamental laws. Diverse, intentional design, order, and perfection can only be orchestrated by One intimately acquainted with reason, meaning, and love.
God, as Creator, is the perfect measure of light, life, liberty, love, and law – the standard of all that sustains life.
Divine Providence
What will the righteous (just) do if the foundations are destroyed?
Remember that I rule and overrule in the affairs of men and nations…
Psalm 11:3-4; 22:28, Daniel 4:17, Proverbs 21:1
God as Creator governs (directs, regulates, controls, and restrains) everything, congruent with the laws of nature, of self-evident truth that appeals to man’s natural affections. He rules and overrules the affairs of men and nations, exposing and overthrowing evil (anything that destroys innocent life), according to the wisdom of Divine Providence.
Supreme Authority
What can be known about God is plain because God has shown it to them. His invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and Divine Nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world in the things that have been made, [man is] without excuse.
-Romans 1:19-20
Our conscience bears witness to this truth. God is above all other authorities to whom the conscience is responsible and to whom it must account.
God, as Supreme Authority, is just in accord with the perfect counsel of His will. He created man to be at liberty to reason and consent to God’s government or not, leaving the measure of freedom at the choice and will of man’s conscience. In short, God’s Divine Providence determined that man’s capacity to live free would ultimately be resolved by his own will.
Man
Man is a triune person (spirit, soul, and body) operating as one unit, connected and interrelated.
Manifesting in his very constitution and anatomical makeup, working as a complete human being.
His image testifies to intentional design, his identity proves sovereign knowledge,
and his purpose of intimate providential care.
Image: Creator
You created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb…my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together…your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
-Psalm 139: 13-16
-
Individual by design
Each person represents a unique design, as the fingerprint bears witness. Each was created congruent with the idea of the One True God working as a triune being.
-
Designed for a relationship with the Creator, creation, himself, and others to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth - subdue (manage) and take dominion (govern).
God has designed a purpose for each and every single individual, whether a man consents or rejects the idea of Divine Providence. What a man believes is not essential. What he knows to be true (the conscience bearing witness) is critical to him. For this reason, the judgment of others is moot.
Identity: Providence
The Book of Deuteronomy - I have foreknowledge of you – I knew you before the foundations of the earth, I called you by name.
-Ephesians 1:4, 1 Peter 1:2, Isaiah 43:1
-
Attachment is by association; nothing is random. Man’s attachment to life is one of association with the Creator, his ancestors, his parents, and finally, with himself.
Purpose: Supreme Authority
I knew before you were born, I formed you in your mother’s womb… I called you by name… Every day of your life is numbered.
-Jeremiah 1:5, Isaiah 43:1, Psalm 139:16
-
A man is governed by God’s absolute design and authority, or he is ruled by his ideas, perspective, and knowledge from his experiences. A man finds meaning and purpose in God’s absolute sovereignty, love, and wisdom, or the limitations of his own experiences and those of his ancestors.
The consequence of disregarding reasoning through our understanding of philosophy, theology, and the triune facets of our very constitution (spirit, soul, and body), while ignoring universal principles, self-evident truth, and our natural affections, is the basis of the confusion, chaos, and dis-ease of our times.
